Meeting Jeff Nuttall on the 19.12 from Leeds (3'33")

Before playing the part of Russian nuclear physicist Dr Mikhail Arkov in The world is not enough, Jeff Nuttall lectures at Leeds Polytechnic, now Leeds Beckett University, and is Head of Fine Art at Liverpool Polytechnic, now Liverpool John Moores University. Journeying between Leeds and Liverpool, he is between the Fluxus of the former, and the beat poets and pop of the second, with every journey filled with the magical syllables of the loudspeakers, carrying with them the very antidote to the menacing eyes and the bristling brows, from George Brecht to Adrian Henri, Gang of Four to Echo & The Bunnymen, Scritti Politti to Static Gallery, Robin Page to Yoko Ono.

The J.R.M. (Jardin de Recherches Musicales) is a mini FM festival, an afternoon of sun, sonic experimentation, field recordings, and performances on the disused little belt railway that goes all the way round Paris.

With thanks to Dinah Bird and Jean-Philippe Renoult and Valerie Vivancos.
