Molly on LSD

Alan Dunn and Jeff Young

Broadcast as part of Sechzig, issue 15, curated by Simon Knaus, March 2017. This piece is 'Molly Wookey', a reworking of an interview with an elderly lady on whom Dr. Arthur Spencer at Powick Psychiatric Hospital experimented with heavy doses of LSD. The backing track is by Leeds Beckett University students Amy Leech ('Maggots for breakfast') and Mark Whitford ('Canal Contact Microphone, midnight, with Chris Watson').

DUNN + YOUNG are Liverpool-based artists with a large archive of recordings of people's voices. Some read Young's texts as they look at the Britain of the Shoreditch Massive or the Mersey Tunnel. Other frail people reflect back on LSD experiments while younger voices find their own sonic paths through classic songs.
